These lenses are often referred to as  Mid Index Thin or Light Lenses and are a blend of superior optics with their design. 

Since they are 15% thinner than 1.5 index this makes them a good lens for stronger prescriptions. 

Spheric lenses have a single curve in their design, while aspheric lenses offer varying deflection. This unique design make lenses thinner and create an over all flat surface making them esthetically pleasing because they prevent magnifcation of your eyes. 

Bifocal lenses are those which contain two different prescriptions. One in the upper area of the lens that allows vision at a distance while the bottom prescription has the additional power needed for vision at a close up range. The resulting vision is clear at both far and near with one pair of glasses.
