The Gmei Optical T1380X is a semi-rimless square in alloy: rim across the top of the lens, open along the bottom. It is the construction that keeps the shape of a frame while removing half of what you would see of it.
On a semi-rimless frame the upper rim and the temples carry the entire lens, so the metal has to stay rigid at a narrow section. Alloy manages this at a fraction of the weight of steel, and the anti-slip temple tips keep the frame from moving — which matters more here, because there is no lower rim resting anywhere.
The square upper line gives the face definition; the open lower edge takes away the heaviness that a full rim square can carry. Nothing crosses the lower field of vision, which is worth having if you spend the day moving between a screen and a desk. Four low-contrast finishes.
