The Muzz JM104rx is a thick acetate frame in five two-tone finishes — dark red, orange, transparent blue, olive green and black. The material is the whole design here: the colour runs through the sheet, so the edges show depth that a moulded frame cannot produce.
Acetate is cut from pressed sheet rather than injected into a mould, which is why it can carry marbling, layering and transparency in the same piece. A thick front shows this off: look at the rim edge and you see the material in section. It is heavier than a metal frame of the same size and warmer against the skin, and it can be adjusted with gentle heat by an optician.
A wide acetate front makes a frame the first thing anyone notices, which is the point of choosing one over metal. The oval outline keeps the shape from becoming aggressive despite the thickness. The five finishes are all two-tone, so even the black option has depth in it rather than being flat.
